The Aloha Theater in Aloha Oregon opened December 4th of 1947. The building was a Quanset hut design with a facade built on for the projection booth, offices, and candy booth. The theater was opened by Mr. E. C. Holland to major success. The theater had to initially turn away patrons as they lined up around the block on opening night.
The theater initially was praised spouting large ads in the paper despite showing 5th or even 6th run films. Theater patronage remains unknown after the initial opening however the newspaper ads began to switch to a smaller ad with no graphics attached.
The Aloha Theater ran for nearly 41 years before finally closing on November 11th 1988. The theater died hard with "Die Hard" (1988) and "Big" (1988). The reason for the theaters closing are unknown however some local accounts seem to remember the theater being vandalized into closure.
