This theatre opened exactly in march 1927, I chose to the this theatre for several reasons, one thing that caught my attention was the fact that the managers of the theatre did not let the theatre to fall apart at the first inconvenience despite the challenges that the theatre had to go through. During the World War 2 many people that were working and sustaining the theatre could not work there anymore and as a result the half of the staff had to leave their jobs behind just so they could stay closer with their families, as the result of this the theatre was almost about to be closed down. One really interesting fact about the theater was the fact that this was the first suburban theatre in Salem up to that point and the first movie that was played there was "Seven Days" which was followed by "The general", this theatre was chosen by me due to personal reasons scubas: being from a really small town, not having the chance of going to the theatre I imagined myself that little kid that lives in Salem being able to go to the theatre fulfilling my childhood dream. After I grew up older, there was a beautiful theatre in my hometown back in Romania that seemed to be almost similar with the one in Salem, this bringing back nostalgia from my childhood.
The architecture of the theatre was the one that pretty much amazed me, being from Europe I always liked very much the European culture and this theatre had some Spanish chandeliers with blue and gold color palette and the thing that got me really excited were the curtains that were red, in my opinion I think that brings the excitement the they eyes of the spectators. Back in Europe we were thought in cinema class about Americans teasers the posters that are so imbedded in the American culture, something that I did find really interesting about this was the fact that the prices of the movies back in the day at this theatre was th efcat that one tickets did cost only between 15 and 20 cents which is crazy comparing prices nowadays. The thing that took my attention when thinking about this theatre was that it had a special and creative arhitectural design, being inspired from several architectural styles, another thing about this is that apartment were actually included in the theatre alongside which is pretty common in the way arhitecture techniques were back in the day, it had decorative arches, detailed ornaments making the spectators feel relaxed feeling like they are watching the movie from their house on their sofa.
The construction of the movie theatre was about 90.000$ and during the grand opening a crown of nearly 3000 people cam around, even tho it could only accommodate between 500 and 550 people cam there just for creating memories and stories to tell friends later in life. Hollywood Theatre eventually closed in May 1971 and it was demolished shortly afterwards.
